Self Appeal® Philosophy

Self Appeal is a positive and nurturing relationship with your body and mind based on internal validation. You already have a relationship with yourself, however, if you’re like many, this relationship isn’t positive and nurturing. This is evident in the way(s) you talk to yourself and the way(s) you treat yourself. And this is why marketers love you! Because you don’t, and they can sell you stuff.

All relationships start with the relationship you have with yourself, so if the relationship with you is the best it can be, your other relationships will be their best too.

Through the Self Appeal® process, a relationship with the self is built that grows more loving and intimate with time. You develop a conscious awareness and understanding of the Self that facilitates honest introspection and unconditional positive regard leading to increased esteem, authentic confidence, and loving action towards yourself and others.

This positive, affirming relationship with yourself influences all other relationships in your life and models for others how to treat you as well as how to treat themselves. It helps you tap into the passion, creativity and joy of life that you were born with and that is your birthright.

Self Appeal® Evolution

Founded by Susan Bremer in 2000, as a way to bring her unique Pg-rated sensual dance to women in the San Francisco Bay Area, Self Appeal has grown to embrace the whole person not only the body of the individual.

It started with what I learned as a successful older exotic dancer. After talking with thousands of men, I began teaching women in the San Francisco Bay Area how to not only spice up their love lives in teh privacy of their homes but more importantly how to feel good in the bodies they already had. Based on those well-attended classes sponsored by The Leaning Annex, Good Vibrations and the San Jose Metro, I created the global DVD, Striptease for Real Women, that featured ten real-women students. Touted as the “newest trend in body awareness therapy,” on Bay Area Magazine, I took this empowering message and fun event to women through giving bachelorette parties and teaching them sexy playful strip routines for their partner in the privacy of their own home. Longer dance classes and workshops evolved through student demand and women from eighteen to eighty enrolled. Many felt, as one young woman said, “this is the most empowering thing I’ve ever done.”

After working with and hearing from thousands of women, these artful fun events evolved into greater Self Appeal® philosophies, and I began speaking to business women about growing their internal validation for greater professional gain. Discovering that professional women often put themselves last, I offered classes such as “Eliminate Your Inner Critic,” “Positive Habits, Positive You,” and “Relationship Building Blocks for Smart Savvy Women,” all with an internal focus because confidence grows from the inside out. While compliments will temporarily make us feel good, they will not sustain our esteem and confidence for continued business, life or relationship success.
